Post-Racial Folly

. . . The consensus is growing that the greatest failure of the modern presidency is no longer a self-absorbed, mean-spirited white guy. . .Rather, it is a self absorbed, mean-spirited black guy. Excerpt: Obama: Our First Post-Racial Failure , American Thinker, 7/28/11, Stuart Schwartz . . .But what about black Americans? Won't in Obama presidency at last lead us across centuries-old gulf of alienation into the recognition that America really is our country? . . .Like most Americans, I love to see an Obama presidency nudge things in this direction. But the larger reality is profound disparity between black and white Americans that will persist even under the glow of an Obama presidency . Excerpt: Obama Post-Racial Promise , LA Times, 11/5/08, Shelby Steele The quandary that black Americans find themselves in as they have and continue to give undying support to the first elected black president is clear. They did not support a black president, but they supporte...

The 'New' Libya: Dark skin citizens need not attend

Image
"If indeed there will be a constitution coming, it should include equal rights for all, not just light skinned Libyans (Africans). If the rebels are (were) indeed fighting for a free democracy equal justice for all, their Achilles heel may be racism as it was so dramatically played out in the rampage. Now if this isn't a newsworthy story that American journalists can't seem to grasp--what a shame."  (Blog entry by writer, Yahoo, 8/28/11) I guess you can say that I come from the  old school  which is truly manifested in how I approach many things in life these days.  I'm talking about dressing, manners, critical thinking, music, and things like that. While I could never divorce myself from the personal eccentrics that help to pinpoint my unique personality, at the same time  happens to be a part of real culture that now epitomizes an era now in retreat--save the music.   I'm beginning to advise others to learn how to embrace the aging process--le...

When the body of evidence disrupts fantasy reporting

Saif Al-Islam, son of Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi, gestures in Tripoli August 23, 2011 in this still image taken from video. Saif told journalists that Libya, which has been largely overrun in the past 24 hours by rebel forces seeking to topple his father, was in fact in government hands and that Muammar Gaddafi was safe. REUTERS/Reuters TV When  representatives of the world press is tied up in a frenzied state with the desire to report the killing (or capture) of an alleged mass murderer and gets it wrong all of the time, it shows a degradation of prescience for last days reporting.  But it is far more telling that objective reporting has been overcome by emotion mongers who have historically feasted on the dark-side of human cravings. Historically speaking, there is no surprises here.  Isn't it the media, the press, the fourth estate, whose main job  is to report the news as it happens no matter how gross or disturbing the content--or inacc...

Old and done

Most of the co-workers that I've been acquainted in diverse work places have at least one thing in common, they are all counting down to retirement.  Yes, that's a rap, it's true.  I the meantime, I always wondered what could and would become the measure of a person giving to mankind if he/she wasn't so occupied with retiring from the battlefield of employment? Well trying to maintain an unofficial dairy to keep an update on those who got their wish for either an early retirement or traditional retirement (according to Social Security standards), the report is sobering. There is Bob who reminded each and every one of us about his plans to sail around the world in his personal boat, worry-free.  Last I heard his life has been docked at the local government subsidized convalescent home. He is being fed intravenously and must often utilize a bed pan to stop from wetting in the bed.  Bob only retired 6 months earlier before his wife found him bent over...

A PICTURE OF UNFLINCHING POWER AND DESTRUCTION

POWER KILLING ROOM Can you guess whose being killed?

The Joy of international clemency for the would be criminal leaders: The International Criminal Court selective justice?

"After this warrant, it is all irrelevant. We cannot negotiate with war criminals," Jalal al-Galal, spokesman of the rebel National Transitional Council (NTC) told Reuters." It appears that the UN has all but snuffed out any resolve for any negotiated terms for allowing the posterity of the regime of Gaddaffi  and his targeted family members.  Any room for reasonable doubt on and all accusations have been cut-off.  If the same court  would have been so zealous in issuing warrants to others whose acts of violence and mass murdering have historically far exceeded the alleged  ones of Gaddaffi it would seem that the justice playing field would be level.  We will be calling for a International Reconciliation Conference versus this theater of blood that appears to be indiscriminately claiming the lives of innocent victims who just so happen to be in the line of fire.  A humanitarian intervention appears to be doing what the...

Loaded Drone attack: Black communities must take cover

Sherwood Ross  pretty much hits the nail on the head in his first paragraph in a recent submission in  Counterpunch .   "In case you didn't know it, what's called a "recession" in White America is called a "depression" in Black America. During much of last year white unemployment held steady at around 8.8 percent. Down the block, though, it was about 12 per cent for Latinos and in Afro neighborhoods across town it averaged 16 per cent. And as unemployment spiked at 24 percent for white teens last year it hit 45 percent for black teens, according to the Kirwan Institute at Ohio State University". No, this is not Pakistan, Afghanistan, Somalia, or Libya where drones are having a holiday, but it is America where the drones of poverty keep unloading missiles of mass destruction even in a so-called post-racial era.  Since the drones carry weapons they can successfully cause much collateral damage as opposed to liberation and empowerment. What are dro...
