A Complete Shift: Things are not the same
"Everything was going on as planned until one day the whole world shifted". This is a proclamation many of us dare to make but the agent of inevitable change has crept in on a grand scale. The permanent ice in the arctic is now melting away which can be used as a euphemism for things thought permanent but are now passing away in many sectors of activity in American lives. People like to think of the upheaval in the Middle East as an anomalous shift that only happens in a million years, but the Middle East shifting sounds actually complements the profound changes taking place the word over. And, contrary to what people want to believe, it has nothing to do with democracy or the need for overthrowing a dictator, but more so to do with the effects of frightful anxiety.
