Being Different

"Being Different" IS NO WALK IN THE PARK. I reckon it depends on many factors, i.e., whether or not you will be received for being different or rejected for being different.

In our society, today we celebrate diversity. Today, people are expected not to be prejudice or hurtful to another who might not be like them or might not belong to the same tribe as them. For centuries, this diversity aspect has been a simple color issue for the nation as a whole. If you were white you were privileged and if you where black you were not privileged. Being black meant that your rights and access to health and general welfare would be threatened.

However, today that has changed.

People are still prejudice, but they are not as blatant. They don't need to be. Because of the inequalities and iniquities of the past can be found in a system that does the talking. This means that white people (or people in charge) don't have to be openly racist anymore because the system will make sure that black people will stay in their place. Laws, media, politics, self-hate, etc. are all all parties to this historical preservation.

One would ask, how so?

Just survey how the laws are slanted to punished black people. Take for instance 'child support law'. Today, black men are disproportionately represented in the system. No, it's not because people care about children. No, it's because the system has successfully chosen something that could further the oppression of black men. It becomes self-evident when the same things that people are being prosecuted and persecuted today for went without consideration in the past.

Imagine all of the child support that black families have coming to them from white men who violated black women. Well, that's another story, but either the past can be rectified or a bad, racist system can continue to pile it on. America does run from its past. It's not that people can't let bygones be bygones, but it's that the today's system has been mold and shaped by a past that was never rectified. Hence, people are still victims of the past because the system was created by the past.

The only intervention has come from people who are deemed different. And, the only intervention that would finally work will be divine intervention. Maybe that's happening right now. In the denial of a nation, things happen.

The good news is that those who persevere on the foundation of truth need not be ashamed or afraid of being different. Children, complete victory is surely within our grasp. This is self-evident in every little victory that adds up moment by moment and day by day.
