Montel Williams pushes payday loans

The MoneyMutual site reads:

Why does Montel Williams endorse MoneyMutual? Celebrated talk show host and Daytime Emmy Award winner Montel Williams associates himself only with products that help people live better physically, spiritually, financially and emotionally. He understands that people will find themselves with difficult to pay expenses due to lack of funds or credit and agrees that a cash advance can provide the needed quick assistance and help avoid more costly fees.

In times where the welfare of many is being threatened by runaway bank charges, high interest rates, high unemployment, a spirited IRS, predator credit lending companies, the cost unjust wars and general corporate greed in general. It makes since that in our desperation we become victimized by Payday loan companies that have proliferated in the last decade in both the depressed inner-city communities over the Internet. It's simple. If you're already living from paycheck to paycheck, why not secure another high interest short-term loan?

But it would seems unlikely that the famous talk host whose foundation appears to be rooted in admonishing parents to inspire youth to reach their highest potential. Of all the things that youth should be motivated to do, why would it be a payday loan. However, in the words of Williams "MoneyMututal online lending network is a source you can trust".

What?

The first thing that any person can speculate is that someone is 'getting paid'. This makes sense. He wouldn't be only celebrity that makes an extra (or much extra) dollars in hawking commercial products, whether that product is good or not good for the people who they are suppose to care about. So in one vein, it is not unusual for someone of Williams statue to be hawking
The President Obama Coin Collection, the coins have since been revealed to be nothing more than regular coins with poor quality stickers on them to the Partnership for Prescription Assistance (PPA), a patient-assistance program clearinghouse that helps low-income patients apply for free or reduced-priced prescription drugs. The problem is why does such an intelligent person be promoting material stuff that is questionable that carries potential harm to people who they are suppose to care about??

There's Nothing Easy About Payday Loans

Writes Deborah Fowles of ABC.Com "EZ Payday Cash..." "Overnight Payday Loans - Low Fee!..."Easy, Confidential Payday Loans..." You see ads like these on radio, television, the Internet, and in your mailbox. They refer to loans that go by a variety of names: payday loans, cash advance loans, check advance loans, post-dated check loans, or deferred deposit check loans. They may sound benign, but actually, they're about as malignant as it gets.".

What's the Problem With Payday Loans? Fowles states, These cash advance loans are a very expensive method of obtaining short-term credit. In the above example, the cost of the initial loan is a $45 finance charge for two weeks, the equivalent of $1,170 for a year, or 390 percent APR (annual percentage rate). Even worse, many people find they're in no better financial shape when the loan becomes due than they were when they borrowed the money, and they get caught up in a vicious cycle of constantly taking out and extending payday loans, which becomes exorbitantly expensive. The lender counts on the fact that most people won't have the money to repay the loan plus the fee when they get their next paycheck.

Bottom line, consumers should be aware where people whom we've learned to trust and believe are hawking stuff that are not good for our health. Even the highest black leadership in the land under the name of the
Congressional Black Caucus can't help themselves. Corporations can find their most vulnerable candidates in people who once knew what poverty is, or has been the victim of a racist society. Normally, once these people have tasted (or imagined) power, they will use every scheme possible to stay afloat in la la land.

Montel Williams is no different. Coming from Baltimore, Maryland and rising to an award winning daytime talk show host to having the the misfortune of MS, and before all of this he was bused as a child to become a leader in a majority all-white school during the desegregation period and probably was never ever very rooted in any cultural base, often alluring to white stuff versus black stuff (That in itself can be traumatic, ask "Tiger", an international role model).

Today, poor black and white communities can only become more vulnerable to commercial predatory practices as our leaders and famous persons in the vanguard--people who we have learned to trust--many have sold us off to the devil. Breaking this systemic and vicious cycle can be like dying on the cross, or, will it be like victory on the cross. Really, if I made a decision today to secure a payday loan, I would not be on national television recommending to friends.
